BIM

Designing a building is no longer about drawing lines; it is about modeling an entire building through a totally integrated approach. It involves energy modeling throughout the process and it even links facilities management solutions right into the model.  At SHP, we believe that Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process, not just software.  It’s a collaborative journey that ensures the architects and engineers are working toward a common goal that’s in the best interest of the client.

As a design leader, SHP was an early adopter of BIM and has, to date, designed over 250 projects amounting to more than $1.5 billion in facilities using this powerful tool. We have been nationally recognized for our in-depth use of a fully integrated BIM process as well as for developing BIM standards for our clients and providing training for construction entities. We have also employed our BIM expertise to develop industry-leading BIM content for many national building manufacturers.  Our expertise doesn’t stop there though.   Staff members are regularly asked to speak at regional and national events, including for select groups like the Design Futures Council and the Society for American Military Engineers.   In addition, we were presented with the International BIM experience Award from Autodesk in 2009 and members of our staff are also involved in elite groups such as the Autodesk’s Developers Network and the Autodesk’s IDEAS Advisory Board.

The software we actively use includes:
