Brian Hilvert of SHP Joins BIM Panel at OFDA Conference

Brian Hilvert of SHP Leading Design and SHAPE Environments has been selected as a panelist for the highly anticipated Office Furniture Dealers Alliance (OFDA) Dealer Strategies Conference to be held Oct. 28-30 in Las Vegas. The OFDA is the annual gathering of office industry suppliers and commercial designers and provides an opportunity for professionals to meet some of the industry’s most talented firms.

Well respected in the interior design community, Hilvert, IIDA, LEED AP, is a senior interior designer at SHP Leading Design and project manager at SHAPE Environments. During the OFDA event, Hilvert plans to share his passion and expertise for commercial design during the panel, “Building Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and Revit—Assessing Business Opportunities and Defining Your Role as an Office Interiors Dealer.” Hilvert is expected to discuss his team’s innovation and integrated approach using BIM and other design processes.

“At SHP, we believe BIM is a process, not just software,” said Hilvert. “It is important for dealers to integrate BIM, IPD, and Revit processes into their programs to gain a competitive edge and modernize their business practices.”

BIM is a transformational process that the architecture community is widely adopting. The process of creating this building database, beginning in design through construction and occupancy of the building, helps a project team to leverage information throughout the project. Autodesk® Revit software is specifically designed for BIM and enables design professionals to plan, build, and maintain higher-quality models suitable for their clients. BIM and Revit are often incorporated in the collaborative alliance of designers and manufacturers known as IPD, which maximizes efficiency through all phases of planning, design, and construction.

SHP Leading Design has designed over 250 projects totaling more than $1.5 billion in facilities using BIM. In addition, Autodesk presented SHP with the International BIM Experience Award in 2009.

Hilvert has been employed with SHP Leading Design for more than 14 years and with SHAPE Environments for more than two years. He has more than seven years of experience working with BIM and Revit to help build content for manufacturers such as Haworth, Versteel, Armstrong Flooring, Porter Athletics, and several others.
