At SHP Leading Design, we are committed to meeting the needs of today’s clients without compromising the needs of future generations. Our sustainable approach meets the functional needs of the client, while improving the environment in which the client will live, learn, work, play and create.
We recognize the perceived costs in designing a green facility, but we continually research alternative ways to achieve similarly impressive results, without increasing the cost. Sub-floor air conditioning, green roofs and geothermal loop ponds will not work for every client, but every building can be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly than conventional facilities have been.
“Green Team”
With over half of our staff Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accredited, as well as possessing thousands of hours of high-efficiency design education, we have the know-how to capture a green ideal as a practical idea. Our Green Team—a multidisciplinary group of architecture, planning, engineering, landscape and interior design experts—works with clients to determine which system is right for their location and budget. We will brainstorm ideas in the earliest stages of a project to uncover the best ways to meet a client’s sustainable goals, revealing synergistic opportunities and averting potential problems. Practicing What We Preach
Anything we can do—from recycling during construction to creating completely sustainable building systems—will make a difference. Internally, SHP supports green programs: alternative transportation, comprehensive recycling programs, non-toxic finishes and continuing education, among dozens of others.
Externally, we have been working with sustainable concepts since before they were mainstream, from designing one of the first integrated recycling programs in the region to one of the first LEED-registered schools in Ohio. Our commitment to the environment is the same as our commitment to clients—the best solutions are those that promise a positive, lasting impact.
