SHP’s relationship with the Hamilton City Schools began over 90 years ago and continues today. As part of a district-wide building program, SHP designed a variety of improvements to the high school that was originally designed by SHP in the 1950’s. The building remained in operation during the multi-phased project that transformed the school into a 353,558 square foot, state-of-the-art, 21st century learning environment.
Details of the projects include:
- A $10M addition that included a new front entrance, media center and additional classroom space.
- $4.5M renovation of the fine arts area including art rooms, music rooms and support spaces as well as the creation of hallway gallery spaces and a fine arts entrance.
- $12M athletic addition that included a new athletic entrance with open lobby area, an arena-style gymnasium, indoor track, athletic offices, locker, wrestling, training and weight rooms
- A $25M renovation of the remaining building including all new HVAC systems, all new finishes, transformation of the old gymnasium into a new cafeteria and the existing cafeteria into classroom space, auditorium renovation as well as a few small additions.
