SHP Leading Design’s 100-year-old Hamilton Office was relocated to the rehabilitated Mercantile Building in downtown Hamilton to better reflect the firm’s commitment to sustainable architecture and community connectivity.
Key features include:
- In an effort to maintain a minimal footprint for the office, many of the spaces were designed to have dual purposes.
- The conference room holds a new conference tabletop made from reclaimed wood from bleachers from a local high school coupled with an existing base from the previous office location.
- The kitchen cabinets certified under the Kitchen Cabinet Mfg Assoc Environmental Stewardship Program and Recycled Glass countertops add a splash of color and interest to the center of the space.
- Sustainable materials can be found throughout the entire office including cork flooring, recycled-content carpet squares and linoleum, walk-off mat carpet tiles made of recycled tires, and a sisal area rug. No VOC paints were used.
