As part of a district-wide building program, SHP Leading Design provided planning and design for the renovation of the elementary school originally built in 1930. The design preserved the original character of the school while upgrading the interior to a 21st century learning environment.
Key features include:
- The building renovation included restoring the windows to include the original glazing to showcase the historic nature of the building.
- The original woodwork and doors were restored the original state to highlight the beautiful woodwork. The doors to the cloak closets in each classroom were removed, refinished and incorporated as decorative displays in the main hallway and end panels in the media center. The original slateboard framing was even refinished to surround the new whiteboards.
- Upgrades included new HVAC systems, technology including projectors and smartboards, flooring, furniture, casework and finishes.
